The Experience of Enlightenment

Enlightenment has been misunderstood by people for ages.

Some of the limiting beliefs about enlightenment are: “It is for holy people or saints or monks or the great sages, it is for the religious or spiritual. It is for the Zen or the oriental or Indian or the yogi.”

Enlightenment has been thought of as a life-long spiritual pursuit for some and as an escape from the world by others.  It is none of these, although it may include them.

There are volumes of misconceptions about enlightenment.

I want to clear some of that up as I feel everyone deserves to experience their own enlightenment.

Enlightenment is not a state one arrives at - it is a state of being that one realizes in stages as a process. It is about waking up to and experiencing your true self, your soul and integrating that aspect of self into everyday life.

As this process unfolds an ever-deepening experience of self-mastery unfolds with it. The ability to manage one’s thoughts, feelings, actions and therefore one’s overall life begins to become normal and natural.

Knowing one’s self as being in a meditative state at all times - deeply relaxed and highly alert simultaneously. This exists even in the midst of intense, active experiences. One is always aware of their thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, actions and experiences.

It is true that some of us have created a lot of fear and resistance and judgments (karma) and therefore enlightenment seems very hard and may seem like a far off, lofty goal. Some of us have struggled very hard and long for happiness, fulfillment and peace and have lost hope or are even bitter by the mention of the idea. Some feel the quest for enlightenment is only for people who need fixing or are “messed up”. They do not see a “practical” reason to seek deeper meaning and purpose or self-awareness.

Some of the foolish think they already have it - that is the number one roadblock to actually experiencing  it.

However if we learn a powerful and effective strategy taught by people who have walked the path before us - we can experience enlightenment in a relatively short time if we are committed to do so.

Deep down it is the “goal of goals” - to feel complete, content, free, whole and happy with deep inner peace is what everyone truly seeks, but so few know about or experience, it especially as an everyday “normal” experience.

And we all know that seeking these things in the world around us is fool’s folly!

So, if happiness and self-mastery are indeed the ultimate attainments - why not make your own enlightenment number one priority?

A part of you may be doing that already and you just need to align with it.
